47th Annual Staub-Barnes Invitational

October 4, 2014 - Conditions were hot, dry and dusty on the 3 mile La Crescenta Park course

Rio Hondo League teams La Canada, San Marino, South Pasadena and Temple City participated in the 47th Annual Staub-Barnes Invitational.  La Canada won the Girls Varsity Level 2 race with a team time of 1:45:37.  Rio Hondo girls went 1-2-3, with La Canada’s Katie Scoville winning in 19:41, followed by teammate Colleen Mispagel (20:27) and San Marino’s Sarah Linton (21:10).  San Marino’s Varsity Men won their Level 2 race with a team time of 1:29:50, followed closely by La Canada’s 1:30:03.  La Canada was led by Ethan Angold’s 17:12 (4th) and San Marino was led by John Judge’s 17:20 (5th).  Temple City’s Alex Ortega took home first place in the Boys Frosh Level 2 race in a time of 18:41, with La Canada taking the team title with a time of 1:42:41.

The individual course record was set in 1978 by Jeff Nelson of Burbank at 14:49.

Girls record is held by Anita Siraki of Hoover who ran 17:18 in 2000.

The all time team record was set by Loyola in the 2007 Del Rey League finals at 1:20:15.

The course and Staub meet record for girls is 1:32:12 set in 2008 by Saugus.
