It was another windy, cool day and, where applicable, many of the results were wind-aided. Three Rio Hondo League athletes were CIF-SS D3 Champions and are also moving on to CIF Masters. Monrovia’s Micah Fulton had a huge day, taking the D3 crown in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump and also running a leg on the 4th place 4x100 relay team. Her Long Jump mark of 18’ 6” was a 7 inch improvement on her previous best, and her amazing 40’ 3” mark in the Triple Jump added almost 2 feet to her PR. South Pasadena’s Esteban Suarez got within a half inch of his PR, soaring 15’ 6” to win the D3 Men’s Pole Vault. La Canada’s Katie Scoville ran a patient 3200M race in mixed D1 and D3 company, and took 10 seconds off her PR to win D3 in a time of 10:39.82. Kalen Marshall of Blair took 2nd in the D4 400M with a PR of 48.66. Monrovia’s Jordyn Tucker closed out her high school career with 3rd place finishes in both the 100M (11.83) and 200M (24.48), and also had a 4th place finish with her 4x100 relay team (48.13). The strong performances of Fulton, Tucker and the 4x100 relay team racked up enough points for Monrovia’s girls to take 3rd place in the D3 team competition. Performances for all Rio Hondo athletes at Finals are provided below.
